I am sitting in my room trying to find the words to describe this feeling. It is a combination of joy, nervousness, anticipation, and thankfulness mixed with some tears. Today I performed for the first time at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and it was THEE best time I’ve had thus far as an artist. I was given my own trailer next to the amazing Yolanda Adams and got to share the same stage that she and the legendary Al Green later performed on as well. Talk about living your dreams!
Along with meeting so many new people who’s kind words made the smile on my face even brighter, I had the pleasure of meeting and was interviewed by Chevel Johnson who writes for the renowned Associate Press. I had no idea the magnitude of her instruction of “googling” my name tonight would result in hundreds of newspaper and news site articles! Yahoo, Washington Post, Huffington Post, and The New York Times were the names I saw when scrolling down. With each page turn more butterflies filled my stomach. All I can say is thank you…Thank you to everyone and anyone who has ever believed in my talents enough to support me in either words or deeds.
I never thought I would be given the opportunities I have been given in such a short amount of time. It is moments like these that keep me focused, in midst of struggling with balancing school, work, and a music career, being a constant reminder of the God given gift I have that I must share with the world. I will not give up and hope to continue to make you all proud.
With that said, although I have finals and graduation approaching I will do my best to have some footage and pictures from this past week up on the site for your viewing pleasure
In the mean time I ask that you do 2 (preferably all 3) of the following:
1.Check out my Jazz Fest review HERE & a full version HERE
2.Give my Facebook page a fantasmal “like” (look to your right)
3.And SIGN UP FOR THE ERIKA FLOWERS MAILING LIST
Till next time…
Much Love,
E
